    If you genuinely think that Mao’s land reforms resulted in too many deaths instead of not enough, I don’t know what to tell you.

        We’re talking about landlords who were so abusive that the instant their tenants were free they each individually chose to murder them. Like it wasn’t a coordinated terror attack, it was millions of people all choosing to take extreme violence for likely the same reason.

        Literally all the land reforms said was “release your slaves” so it’s not on anyone but the landlords for what happened next.

          We’re talking about the tens of millions of peasants who starved to death because Mao didn’t understand agriculture or mechanization.
