I’ve got three. I started with a beehaw account but now have one at sh.itjust.works after beehaw defederated and a third at lemmynsfw for…reasons.

A handful of them. The fragmentation of lemmy is yet to be improved. It is common for me trying to subscribe to remote community that the remote community is not found or the instance is in “Blocked Instances”.

This is bad for general users since they will not be patient or bother to open multiple accounts across multiple instances.

Four right now. I have a kbin that I’m keeping contained to kbin for the time being. I have one on Beehaw that was going to be my main on Lemmy, but I made another on .world to interact everywhere since Beehaw defederated for now. And one for NSFW-only.

I would be interested from the users who have multiple accounts, do you use the same name and password everywhere, so do you use the accounts as “one”, or is it different for each instance?
    If so, why?
For security reasons, if the database of an instance is cracked?
Do you not want your NSFW account’s postings to be associated with your other stuff?

I use a password manager (Keepass) so every service has a different password usually 24 characters with upper-lower case, numbers, and special.

For critical services like paypal and email, I also use different usernames.

Two on Lemmy. One on lemmy.world because it seemed both popular and stable enough, and a second one that I’m planning to use now that Beehaw blocked lemmy.world.

Feeling really bummed out that posts on communities from Beehaw are now different depending on what instance you use to view them now.

Beehaw is having trouble moderating some bad actors and harassment coming from some instances with open signups. They’ve decided to defederate for now until things settle down and better mod tools get released.

They don’t like the open registration process and they feel there was too many bad actors on that server, so they defederated from them.

Two right now, this one and one on Bookwyrm I made way back. Going to be interesting to see how multiple accounts are juggled. From a user perspective it’s a little weird to view multiple types of content from one account (ie lemmy, Mastodon, kbin content from this account) but if I want to say post on pixelfed I’d need a pixelfed instance account. Maybe an app with multi-account management will come around that makes that a little easier. Or maybe eventually a mega-instance that is interoperable with every fedi-service? At that point is it just centralized again? Oof

That’s what I’m interested in. An app with multi account management for different types of content. (micro blogging, content aggregation, picture sharing, video sharing, etc)

I know just enough coding to know it’s out of my capabilities or else I would make it a fun passion project. In the meanwhile, I’m just happy to see how things go!

I know for mastodon, you can move your account over to other mastodon instances while keeping all your data and such.

Is there currently a way to do that with kbin? In case I wanted to branch out to a more niche instance but keep my profile and messages and subscribed magazines and such?
