I know its a bit late, but i never had a ps2, and after that skipped on 3 untill few days ago when i got an used ps3 with plenty of games.

I love how much MGS3 is over the top, with Ocelot meowing and such, but man do i miss crouch sneaking and over the shoulder aiming from MGS4

The only version of MGS3 to have crouch walking was the 3DS version. The pressure sensitivity on PS2/3 was to control whether you’d aim/shoot, and hold someone/cut their throat. You could walk quietly by using the dpad

I got it with legacy collection with mgs4, i dont know if that is subsistence version. Anyway, camera is 3d likecin mgs4, but after getting used to 4 and V i have so much trouble aiming, grenades are useless to me haha. I know there is an autoaim button but it just makes snake go berzerk trying to lock on like mad

Any tips for fast aiming? Like from 3d view, not through weapon singhts because then i cannot move? I managed to own Ocelot with just mk22 stun, but the Pain is so irritating that if i could i would use all the grenades and white phospor ones if i could aim fast

It’s not really built for that, but I think if you hold L1 while your weapon is held out in front of you, it will focus your aim horizontally toward the nearest enemy. Then fine tuning your shot in first person will be faster.

I thought as much but sometimes it makes it swipe from side to side too fast and cannot take aim of anything. like moving and shooting at the same time is almost impossible

Yeah, it was designed as a top down game first. The behind the back camera was added later. Just don’t think of it as a game where you need to do a lot of moving and shooting at the same time.

3 is my favourite game in the series. I absolutely hated how it started when I first played through, but once it got going and I got the hang of some of the mechanics, it just clicked. The story is great, the bosses are interesting, the setting is cool. It just hits all the right notes.

MGS3 is such an experience, enjoy it! It’s remarkable how much depth got crammed in to the MGS games, even just in the codec calls alone.

Used PS3 is really a great system right now, most of them can be soft modded to play ps1-3 games, and you can install any size sata drive you want! I have a ps2 but the upscaling isn’t as good as having a system that has hdmi on it and upscales itself.
