Hey all, first-time poster / ex-long-time redditor here. I tried using the Lemmy Search function but it still seems to be broken for searching specific communities so I will just ask here at the risk of creating a duplicate post / question:

Of all the Google Photos Alternatives, can anyone say which one(s) work best for showing and organizing videos as well as photos? AKA not a video-first solution but something that handles both equally well. Not looking for something low-resources or ready for mass public usage, it will mostly be for myself and maybe a couple friends who will probably never actually use it and just ask me to share via GPhotos or dropbox instead :/

I used a self-hosted Nextcloud for a while. It was pretty close to a Google drive stand in. I believe it had similar browser playback for videos

Honestly, for how rarely I share videos, I typically just upload them to YouTube unlisted. It’s wild how bad Google photos is for video sharing. Doubly bad for Google chat.

I’m also looking for the same. Everything I’ve found so far is photos-first. I’ve tried Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, PhotoPrism and Immich for videos, but no solution is perfect.
