For those out there using VPN’s to torrent, do you prioritize a lower latency over higher bandwidth or higher bandwidth over lower latency when selecting your server/region?

Bandwidth is pretty self explanatory but I’m not sure how latency impacts torrenting (mainly for seeding). If anyone can shed some light on this, I’d really appreciate the input!

I use a server with low latency when I’m just browsing the internet, watching YT videos, or playing a multiplayer game. When torrenting, I switch to a server with good bandwidth. Fortunately, I just recently started using a VPN that lets you sort servers by latency vs bandwidth, so I can easily switch back and forth depending on what I happen to be doing at the time.

In most cases I don’t even need to do this though, since it’s usually pretty easy to find a server that has both low latency and good bandwidth.

It’s use-case dependent. If I want to game with a VPN (due to region restrictions, or hiding my IP from a potentially rogue community ran server owner) then the choice is obviously latency, because net code in video games doesn’t use a lot traffic but needs to be delivered quickly.

If I need a VPN for my seedbox, then the answer is bandwidth, because I don’t care if it’s a bit slow, but I need lots of bandwidth.
