  • I’m torn on this question - I know so many people that were diagnosed as kids that grew out of it, and so many friends/family with kids now that got diagnosed too quickly, which makes me think those with behavioral issues are getting diagnosed, probably just as many people that are getting diagnosed as adults that should have been diagnosed as a kid.

  • And going back to OPs smart devices, many of these Chinese smart devices or electronics do not meet electrical standards - so if you hardwire a smart switch and it burns down your house, you’re screwed. I used to test Amazon products for beer money and so many of them were dangerous. Hideaway plugs for kitchen counters would have 16 gauge wire and have a 15A rating (or would lie and say they have 14 gauge), smart dimmers would show UL and ither ratings, but they would just have bogus stamps in them or would use made up numbers and hope you didn’t look them up. It was terrifying and amazon wouldn’t do anything about the dangerous products (except solar eclipse glasses that didn’t work) until I said “this seller is trying to buy 5 star reviews”

OP doesn’t address why they don’t want mom in the room and why mom may want to come in, they could be for very different, but valid reasons. Dealt with a similar situation when growing up, UT for me it was because my sister was annoying AF and I wanted to play video games in peace, and my parents just wanted to see and spend time with their favorite kid (which wasn’t my pain in the ass sister, that’s for sure).

Edit: OP also doesn’t address what was done to address the issue verbally either
