I’ve been using Connect for the last few days and so far really enjoy it. it’s still missing a few features but I really like the UI.

I hope not. I’m almost 50. But I’m not in the dating pool. I feel for anyone trying to date at our age. Better to be who you are though.

I was able cancel Hulu just fine a week ago. Sounds like this was just an intermittent outage during the user’s cancel process and they went online to scream about it. Nothing to see here.

I personally don’t think the API pricing was ever meant to be reasonable or cover their true costs. Between the absurd pricing, the short timing, their test that blocked mobile web browsers, and refusal to even negotiate, it’s clear to me that they just want to kill 3rd party apps and force everyone on mobile into the official mobile app where they can enforce their monetization schemes.

I guess I’m glad I picked Lemmy.one – the Switzerland of US-bases Lemmy instances :)

I use Brave. My most used extensions are:

• Awesome Screenshot - takes partial and full browser window screenshots. It can also record screens. It looks like they’ve added “ChatGPT” into the name for some reason.
• Bitwarden - password manager
• VisBug - allows you to view webpage styles and tinker with the layout of live webpages.
• Homey - a replacement for the default New Tab, which includes beautiful live wall papers and convenient access to bookmarks and other widgets.

Knowing that Beehaw and Lemmy.ml were overloaded, I chose the next biggest one in my country at the time, which was Lemmy.one.

This is why I still cling to my trusty Samsung S10. Still has a headphone jack for my IEMs and a heart rate monitor.

Very well said. I agree – it’s not charging for the API that’s the issue, although that is what the media usually reports. It’s the ridiculous price, the poor timing, lack of parity in their own tools, refusal to negotiate, and their dismissive attitude towards everyone.

Sadly, Reddit has likely won the short-term battle. But hopefully, this Blackout raises awareness of the need for alternatives. Whether it be Lemmy/Kbin, some up-and-coming site like Squabbles or Tildes, or something not yet created, the seeds of migration off Reddit have been planted. If Reddit has such apathy for its communities pre-IPO, just imagine how bad it will be post-IPO when they are dealing with Wallstreet directly.

I haven’t played either of these, but they sound very cool and have been on my wishlist for a while:

• Metaphobia - a FREE game on Steam. It’s a classic-style point-and-click adventure in the vein of Gabriel Knight.
• Shadows of Doubt - An immersive sandbox detective stealth game set in a fully simulated sci-fi noir city of crime and corruption. The world is procedurally generated and you can explore and take on cases freely. Discover, meet and tail individual citizens, each with their own name, job, apartment and daily routine, in unique, procedurally-generated cities. Each case has different culprits, clues and experiences for you to test your investigative skills.

The refresh issue doesn’t seem to exist in the Jerboa app. Just pointing out that App users may not be able to search for previous threads as easily. I can’t tell if the iOS app Mlem has search, but the question of whether it has search has been asked multiple times and was mostly unanswered.

Keep in mind that the Android App, Jerboa, doesn’t have search functionality yet.
