I just spent 45 minutes trying to install Standard Notes “the right way”
I’m curious what you mean by the “right” way, from a website? Linux does things differently at a fundamental level, that I won’t deny. But I’ll also say, if you’re interested in Linux, you have to be willing to learn.
I’m not an expert, but as I understand it most Linux distributions rely on repositories, and expect you to install most of your software from there for both security and compatibility reasons. Those errors were telling you what additional things needed to be downloaded before what you selected would work. And I guess I’m confused on that point. You said it pointed you to what you needed, did things not work after the downloads completed? I know Linux Mint does this, and it’s considered to be very user friendly. To use your analogy, if you turn the welder on and it says you need fuel, “please download this exact type” that should resolve the issue.
I know it’s hard expecting everything in Linux to function exactly like Windows, but that’s not how it works and that’s by design. Regardless, as Windows adopts more spyware, ads, and anti-user features into their products I think Linux is the far better (free and open-source) choice and it’s definitely worth learning… Good luck!
I can’t speak for anyone else, but you seem to be missing the biggest issue with this map: saying “you guys” excludes anyone but those identifying as male. You may not mean it that way, but I’ve had women be offended when I used that in the past, and I wouldn’t like being referred to as a “gal” in a group of women. It’s just not accurate.
Personally, for a gender-neutral way of addressing a group, I like “you folks”.
In that case, it’s probably any gasket that’s susceptible to this, coffee is really strong-smelling. My Zojirushi thermos is only used for coffee, for this reason…
Are we doing puns…? I feel like you’re doing puns. This was an incendiary situation…
Other people are saying “cast iron” or other broad brands/categories, but this is the only one that doesn’t fall under OP’s request?? Nonsense.
Okay, I’m sold.
Wait, you’re saying not to use coffee in a Stanley thermos?? Even if I don’t have milk in it too? What’s it for then, only soup?

Playing them on my Xbox 360 is literally a better experience, that’s how much the remasters suck! Plus they still have all the iconic music. I got a wireless adapter and can even use my Xbox Elite Series 2 controller…
“The Media” is several separate giant corporations. They focus on profits. Why would you assume they care or prioritize protecting democracy!?
Most honest person in this discussion.
Apologies, I wasn’t trying to be productive. The time for that was before the election. Swifties, Gen Z, Gen X, Millennials, boomers, women, men, minorities, etc had the chance to stop Project 2025 and we all failed. I think election results show low turnout across all demographics? And now a lot of people are going to be hurt by the Trump/GOP policies of hate…
If they had voted, they wouldn’t have to worry about anything else.
Again, I appreciate the information but “revolution” is a nebulous term. What’s the realistic plan to get there?
Voting can’t get us there.
I’d believe that if we had enough participation. Look at the number of eligible voters, then look at the margins on every single candidate and issue. If enough people had voted, we would have literally put fascism behind us and had election reform. First past the post would be a distant memory. Which again, is the absolutely required first step before 3rd-party candidates become viable in the US.
Voting works if enough people vote. But we do have the numbers! I realize getting people to participate is the harder problem than just saying an ideology will solve everything, but that’s the world we live in. Any realistic plan for revolution must at least include voting as long as voting is still an effective part of progress.
“Mr Grown Toddler-Elect, as you lurch from one impulse to the next, please tell us your feelings. You never have before!”
Lol “policy”
This is actually so true. We’re all dazed and staggered. Donald Trump won. But he’ll win even more and do more damage if he keeps us all feeling helpless and powerless going forward. We’re not.
What are these groups’ position on voting for 3rd party candidates in the US’s “first past the post” climate? Genuinely asking. I’m all for organizing and educating, but until we can end the correct 2-party system, these candidates are in no way viable.
Honestly, most of that headline should be in quotations.
