I thought so too, but it isn’t - it’s a server that hosts your pirated games and a client that downloads from the server and installs them. It’s like Steam or Epic games, but for pirated games.

dude why would you name it that
You’re upset that the headline didn’t have data, details and specifics in it?..
If they vote in a way I don’t like, they’re a bot. If they don’t vote in a way that I like, also a bot. In fact, if they vote at all, probably a bot
Can’t the other instances see what you saw via federation? Or does a self hosted lemmy instance federate all comments from all threads once it knows about a server?
What’s funny is that comment isn’t deleted for me (on https://kbin.social/m/[email protected]/t/9220/Why-are-communities-on-Lemmy-ml-more-full-compared-to-the#entry-comment-43401)
That doesn’t really make sense though - shouldn’t comments be federated across all communities?
Thanks. I thought nobody was even replying to my comments until I realized that notifications for replies to comments were off by default on kbin, lol.
I really, really hope the open internet takes off again
I’m using kbin and I don’t even really understand what Magazines are. Are they the equivalent of reddit subs / lemmy communities?
I think anyone surprised by Spez’s behavior now have not actually read anything about him before
What a terrible AMA lol. I’m not surprised but it’s still somehow worse than I imagined it would be.
Why would that be a serious problem? The code is open and it can be hosted by anyone. The moderators of a single instance are nearly meaningless to a federated system. That’s the whole point.
To put it another way, what problems do you think the devs being tankies might cause?
there are lots of places like that, but it depends on what you do when you’re horny
I really like kbin.social, but it’s hard for me to figure out how to start a new Threaded post. I can add a new “article” or “link”, but what about just a text post?
Also I am not sure how my home feed is populated - I can subscribe to federated stuff and local stuff, but most of what I’m seeing is not from anything I’ve subscribed to. Is it more like r/popular?
I agree, the integration of microblogs + threads is brilliant and I hope people keep using it.
I’ll pay for instance hosting, for sure.
So you’re basically paying for a proxy for Google and Bing search?
Google, because of inertia and not being given a good reason to switch.
It’s funny because I agree with you - out of everything that collects my data I get the most out of YouTube, it often recommends things I like quite a bit and it’s the primary way I discover new music
