Yeah GUI development isn’t easy or straightforward. Thats why there are UI/UX engineers whose sole job is to design and create simple and easy to use interfaces. And they get paid big money to do it too.
If those programmers making ultra specialized software were to waste their time making a GUI, they would never finish the project or would require funding of some sort.

Drought. When you live in the bush and only have tank water for everything, drinking water comes before showering/bathing. When things are bad, shower once per week and use a bowl of water and wash cloth to freshen up the rest of the time. Still end up with a smell though. You can smell the drought on the people in a rural areas when you go into town.

I’ve noticed the periodic deluge of updates too. I imagine that lemmy is pulling updates at set intervals, causing this. Could be a bunch of reasons to do things this way but it’s not ideal.
Mastodon has a good solution for this where the user can choose between continuous scrolling updates and manually updating the feed. Would be good to have a similar option here.
It is but the FOSS community and projects like the Fediverse and increasing decentralization will go a long way to countering monetisation and the capitalist mindset
2nding this. Posts in Hot haven’t moved since I started using lemmy this morning.
I liked using KanBoard. Its simple and runs well inside a docker container.
