I already have the app, but thanks.
I’m here to stay. I was using Infinity to lurk Reddit, but I stopped using it when it went towards the subscription model.
My family drops mothballs which isn’t an environmentally friendly solution, but it’s more humane than what my stepdad wanted to do.
Haven’t used Discord in a while actually.
I live in South Florida.
My little brother has been glued to his tablet since he was 3. He goes to the same elementary school I used to go to, but they no longer use Windows desktop pc and instead they use Chromebooks. I remember learned how to use computers back in 4th and 5th grade, I learned how to use a browser, how to use a search engine, how to use a database, and how to use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Yes, absolutely. As of right now I have zero friends either online or offline. It’s been that way for a while now.
Increasing social anxiety, especially among younger generations. Even with all these different social media platforms many people including me find it difficult to communicate irl. Some people find it easier to communicate online as opposed to offline as some people may act bolder, feel less vulnerable, and particularly in my case be able to convey their thoughts and articulate themselves more effectively than irl. I have more time to think and piece together word by word what I want to say. It also helps that the internet makes it easier for people to find more like minded people so that they may express themselves more freely. I also notice a disconnect between my online and offline interactions as I’m more likely to initiate online than offline and I’m more talkative.
I hope you find your unicorn one day.
It’d give me more time to learn languages. I want to learn most Romance languages then later some Germanic languages. I’d have more time to read, study, and learn from the “For Dummies” series books I bought.
A few years ago I was in some discord servers for language exchange, but I had to put it all on the back burner to focus on job hunting and I lost motivation ever since, but I’m trying to reignite the flame.
I used to think unicorns were real.
Learning languages. It’d be nice if I could meet people irl who are interested in learning different languages and it’d probably keep my motivation up as I’ve been slacking.
I’ve seen this talked about in some small subreddits, they were pushing back against the “kids are resilient” mantra. Sadly, I don’t think much will be done to address the issue and we’ll keep chugging along as business as usual.
It was at a country club in a small town I used to work in. It was called “The Cowboy”, and it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. It was pretty sizable and it had bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and cheese.
No. Imo, as long as both parties are consenting adults then I don’t see the issue. Tbh, I thought society would be more progressive in regards to this by now.
I know the common theme is to blame ignorance and while in many cases that’s true, but we often overlook other causes. Imo, it’s sometimes due to ressentiment, “sense of hostility directed toward an object that one identifies as the cause of one’s frustration, that is, an assignment of blame for one’s frustration. The sense of weakness or inferiority complex and perhaps even jealousy in the face of the “cause” generates a rejecting/justifying value system, or morality, which attacks or denies the perceived source of one’s frustration. This value system is then used as a means of justifying one’s own weaknesses by identifying the source of envy as objectively inferior, serving as a defense mechanism that prevents the resentful individual from addressing and overcoming their insecurities and flaws. The ego creates an enemy to insulate themselves from culpability.” A lyric from one of my favorite songs, “Lunatic Fringe”, sums it up nicely. 'Cause you got to blame someone for your own confusion.
As a kid I used to talk to my stuffed animals and this continued until middle school when my folks threw my stuffed animals away. After that I just started gaming more, my folks used force me outside of house and tried to get me to interact with my peers, but to no avail.
