Ultrakill is one of those rare examples of media where I genuinely feel a large amount of guilt if I pirate. Great community, super responsive (and largely queer) development team, incredible game…

First time in forever that I’ve actually bothered to buy a game without pirating it first. So here’s a hot take that goes against everything I usually stand for: pirating indie games is kinda bad.

With all the recent studio shutdowns and a largely saturated market, it’s becoming harder and harder for indie game developers to make a living. I hope everyone remembers to support independent projects they truly enjoy - be it music, games, or any other piece of media - because otherwise we’re going to end up with only 3 game studios that pump out the same homogeneous bullshit every year.

I don’t have exact numbers, (just anecdotals) but SponsorBlock has some basic stats, and so far they’ve saved people over 3962 years worth of time. By dividing that by how many skips there are, (3,608,826,265) you get roughly 34.6452092 seconds. Per skipped segment, which videos often have multiple of.

This doesn’t include videos that are purely promotional sponsored videos disguised as content, (see modern LTT or RyanToyReviews) video content that would break the coherency of the video if skipped or actual non-video ads that are becoming more and more frequent.

SponsorBlock also has options to skip filler in videos, which is hit or miss since it’s all community submitted, but…

Increased battery drain for diminishing returns. From the distance and screen size, it wouldn’t be that noticeable, but the performance drops would be.

I would say the biggest advantage is speed, but as someone who has use Xbox controllers for years and years, I can type pretty damn fast with a controller.

I mean, there’s a bunch of studies that say the economy was good and others saying the economy was bad, but it did feel better than now. Probably because of COVID and increasing corporate greed, but I’m not an economics major.

Slightly relevant note: the budget deficit more than doubled by the end of 2019, and the numbers show he added at least 7 billion to the national debt (probably a combination of tax cuts that never quite worked out, COVID-related spending and other things)

I do want to push back on the point of his presidency sucking less - Project 2025, which proposes things like an end of discrimination laws against LGBTQ people, ending funding for programs that benefit low-income groups and complete abandonment of climate change policy, has pretty close ties to Trump’s organization and that’s pretty worrying.

He’s also said some pretty crazy stuff on the campaign trail that worries me greatly, like seeking revenge for his indictments for various charges and calling illegal migrants “animals”.

But on the other hand, we have Biden, a man who is clearly on his way out and too scared to deliver on many of his campaign promises.

American politics fuckin’ suck.
