Good to see. Working people can’t count on governments alone to make our lives better against the aggressive greed of these corporations. We aren’t numbers on a balance sheet, we are people. The only way we can fight conscienceless capitalism is together.
I always wonder why people shoot up schools and parks when their problems are caused by people in board rooms. Never see a mass shooting in a board room for some reason.
Retiring in a cheap country in South America seems like the best option. Makes the money stretch way farther.
Maybe calling it laziness alone was unfair, but the robber barrens of old were devious too and far more brutal. And a generation who voted in Reagan then turned around decades later to vote in Trump clearly is being lazy on their understanding of government. They sold out the middle class because they didn’t do the hard work of looking at policy and fighting these corporate stooges. They fell for the charismatic strong man because it was easier than paying attention to complex issues.
There has to be an unending vigilance, not just a fight because fights end. Older generations fought for workers rights with unions and their kids lazily let it slide away. The rich never stop taking because all they have to do hire people to lobby, lawyer, and manipulate for their ends. Workers have to continually push to take and keep their piece of the pie. Governments can make laws and rules to protect workers but those can be changed or weakened without vigilance. A good government official can help and their successor strip it away. Workers only strength is together. Collective action is the way but it’s a perpetual action.
I use Apple sync on all my devices including my computer and it does delete from one device to another IF you have sync set up properly. And it’s not instantaneous, it happens when the cloud sync happens. When the computer is off or in sleep, it’s not syncing and once it’s woken up, sometimes it takes a minute to sync up. My guess, it was either not set up right or it hadn’t sync’d yet.
Other possibility, he didn’t know about the deleted folder where deleted messages sit for 30 days unless you clear it (like a computer trash can).
Don’t think anyone is all that surprised by the depths of Trump’s corruption at this point.
Fuck Charlie Kirk. Massive piece of shit.
Bet Trump has moved campaign money to buying bitcoin through some shady investment vehicle.
Trump’s supporters reading this:
This platform is not controlled by opaque powers. Decentralized social media is the best solution to this problem currently available.
Didn’t realize you were also in the industry. I think the word “Instantly” was my qualm. I don’t think anything with internet infrastructure can change in a time frame anyone would consider instant. Otherwise, I agree with you.
He’s clearly too distracted by his new found social troll celebrity. He’s not been doing Tesla any favors in recent years. Better he get removed at this point.
Speaking as a high level ISP worker, you have no idea how archaic and disorganized the internet infrastructure of this country is. Nothing happens instantly, even if they made ISPs legally liable. The likely outcome of that would be jacked up rates and lots of workers thrown under the bus who are already overworked. Investor capitalism leeching all profits away from upgrading equipment and hiring enough workers to secure things properly is the issue. As it has become the issue with almost every major business in every industry in the west these days. Not saying legal liability is a bad idea, but it will still take years to get resolved even so. Internet should be a public utility anyway.
No, but any bias in what content gets boosted is bad for public discourse. Too many people think Tiktok is fine, but it being so heavily influenced by an authoritarian dictatorship makes it a bad platform. We need platforms that aren’t controlled by these opaque powers. I wasn’t saying Facebook or the like was the answer at all if you read my post.
An authoritarian government as evil as China’s having power over that platform compromises it. Tiktok escalates content that hurts western governments but downplays content critical of China. How many times have you heard about the ongoing Uyghur genocide and the over 1 million Uyghurs still imprisoned in China on Tiktok? Israel’s genocide of Palestinians is boosted everywhere because it makes America look bad. While all attention brought to work against genocide is good, it’s important to note China has their finger on the scale pushing down content against their interests. China does things just as worthy of Tiktok activism and it is ignored by the algorithm on purpose.
Decentralized social media is really the best option for public discourse in the long run.
Nuance is lost to agenda all the time sadly. That’s why discussing politics through memes is not helpful. It puts too much into black and white terms to fit the medium and almost nothing in life is that way.
Apple Music - great audio quality, pay artists better than spotify.
I use Apple News but there are plenty of other ways to just stream current events without comment sections to suck you in. As mentioned, RSS readers. You can borrow magazines and news papers on Libby as well.
