A while ago I came to the conclusion that a Casio G-Shock is the best watch. They don’t have to be expensive, a good one will sync the time multiple times a day, so it’s always accurate. A good one also has small solar panels in the watch face, so the battery will never be empty, and all of them are really build to last.
From a pure functional perspective I think it’s the best watch ever made. It basically tells you the correct time, always.
If you ban tabacco all out its going to create a huge black market. Addicted smokers that don’t want to stop aren’t just going to stop.
But, raising the legal smoking age with one year every year might work. Tabacco use is already pretty low for GenZ as smoking isn’t “cool” like it was in the 70s.
I just found out GUMBIES 7 isn’t backwards compatible with GUMBIES 1.
And yes I know GUMBIES 1 was released in 2013, but still what the actual fuck!
When I search in a 30KM radius, the cheapest house starts at 140K euros. You only get 19m² (204 sq ft) so it’s like just one room? But for 150K you can get a 55m² (592 sq ft) house that’s probably a bathroom, livingroom and bedroom.
Per square feet actually more expensive, but houses in the Netherlands aren’t that big anyway.
When you pay a company and they provide you with a domain (you choose) and give you a webserver, some disk space, a database etc.
I pay about 30 euros a year for 5 websites. They are all very basic (either some php stuff I made, or WordPress). These websites have very few visitors so the hosting specs don’t really matter. All these websites have a specific domain name, some disk space, and a database.
For this price they offer PHP and MySQL. So it’s not a dedicated server where I’m root and can Install other stuff.
I’m Dutch and use a local Dutch company, I also wanted a .nl tld
I don’t know, maybe it’s because PHP used to be the default web based language? I just buy hosting, I don’t sell it…
I’m not the one you asked, but what I like isn’t really about PHP itself, but the fact that I can get dirt cheap hosting with PHP and MySQL. Every time I want to create a small “app” that makes some manual task easier it’s very useful to create something I can access from the internet.
Python is really useful for stuff like that too, but (in my experience) not as easy and cheap to use as an web app.
For example I go to dinner with some friends every month and we always forget who’s turn it is to choose and book a restaurant. So I just made this PHP page that shows the current and next 2 months with a name. So we always use that to see who’s turn it is.
It’s not even that simple, because paying can be done with money, but you can also send troops, or have troops ready to protect other countries, send equipment, etc.
So it’s not that black and white who pays what.
Also I think the biggest think Trump did to NATO for the EU, is that for the first time people actually realized the US isn’t always the allie we thought. It really depends on who’s president, something before Trump most people never thought about. It also really pushed the point of having an European army and other changes like that.
In the Netherlands you pay a road tax every 3 months. The amount is based on weight (because a heavier car does more damage to a road) but also on eco label. So an electric car that has the best eco label can have less tax than an old (but much lighter) diesel car.
I don’t think time doesn’t have meaning with a system like the beats system. It’s just that the meaning is more personal. For you 600 beats is dinnertime and for me it’s the moment the alarm clock wakes me up.
Dinner is still at 600 for you and your entire city or country or state (depending on how big your country is).
But for larger countries it can be that most stores close at 600 but some open earlier and close at 550 or something.
At this moment we have a system that also can be pretty confusing. Like when you have a meeting with people in different timezones. Oh we meet at 14:30? Like our 14:30 or yours? Or when you do stuff with computer systems and 2 servers are in different timezones, it’s a nightmare
Actually it’s not that difficult, as you can see on the wiki page time is shown in
@392.51
So yeah there are fractions.
Also I don’t really see the problem without timezones, so if it’s @451 maybe that is night for you and morning for me.
It would actually make traveling easier, because you will immediately see what time it is for your family at home.
Instead of the hours at a place being the same (like 19:20 is in the evening for everyone), now we keep the time the same but we have different experiences at certain beats.
Exactly, this is how you pay off your mortgage
Why did Linux systems go for capitals in the home folder? It’s actually kind of annoying and takes extra key presses.
…A while later “XDG Base Directory Specification”
That is true, but my smart TV and smart scale both got something like 5 years of updates. Who buys a new scale every 5 years? My parents still have a scale from the 90s that works fine.
