Yeah I’d much rather take that over any sexuality. It’s a much deeper insight into my personality than just “straight”.

I’m saying they might send people the bill and then these people (well, companies) are going to have to fight it in court, where they’ll be right for sure, but Microsoft can make a lot of stupid arguments to prolong the whole thing, to the point where it’s cheaper to pay the license fee. For one they could say that continued use of the operating system constitutes agreement to licenses and pricing.
Either way this is server 2025 not windows 12. We’re talking about companies here, not people.
It is, but they never forced anyone to take the update, so that might save their asses, or it might not
Ah, but did you read the article?
MS didn’t force it, Heimdal auto-updated it for their customers based on the assumption that Microsoft would label the update properly instead of it being labeled as a regular security patch. Microsoft however made a mistake (on purpose or not? Who knows…) in labeling it.
It would help your point if you told us what these virtual spaces being bulldozed are.
productivity increase will pay for that over the next month or so

It’s like a YouTuber apology. “Oh I done fucked up, I am so sowwy” while sitting on a cozy couch in a multi-million-dollar home
When COVID hit, the management team at the company I worked for, took temporarily salary hits. The rest of us were told our quarterly bonuses would be frozen. Nobody would be laid off unless it’s an emergency.
Company pivoted in just a few months thanks to smart executive decisions and hard working engineers. The quarterly bonuses were paid out anyway. Nobody was laid off. We saved a bunch of our B2B customers’ livelihoods by offering solutions that helped them continue operate during lockdowns (and our company’s income was directly dependent on THEIR income - if they suffered, we suffered, if they prospered, we prospered). Of course, the CEO was also the founder of the company and at that point, there had been no investors or anyone involved. It was truly a family-run company that had made it big.
THAT is accountability. Doing whatever you can to keep your staff employed and your customers happy.
That company has since enshittified because of management changes and I’ve left for greener pastures, but if I’m ever in charge of my own company and the financials look bleak, I’ll take the hit myself. It’s easier to replace money than it is to replace good, hard working people. And good people will help you pivot if your business model is no longer working out.
I sure as hell hope so. My generation, myself included, seems a bit lazy in comparison. I suppose the oldest of us millennials got hit hard by 2008, but I personally didn’t, I was a teenager. So really, we’ve grown accustomed to living in good times and that makes people lazy. I reckon Gen Z and soon Alpha are going to pick up where we’ve failed and I’m ready to grab the popcorn.
This might be different in my country where we don’t have a potential upcoming Trump presidency, BUT we’re still affected by American politics. Last time Trump got elected, we had a huge surge in right wing Christian family values politics. We’re an atheist or at best pagan nation at heart so this felt so fake from the get-go. Wdym “back to our Christian roots”? We used to fight Christianity with pitchforks and stuff!
Hmm, but did they say the last version of Windows, or the last version of Windows you’re going to buy? And if it’s the latter, is the upgrade to Windows 11 free? If yes, then technically it’s still correct.
So does anyone’s desktop PC that they’re too lazy to power off and I can guarantee those will waste even more.
I’m exactly the same, if I was getting a new laptop I’d be completely torn between Framework and Apple, the polar opposites. Part of me wants freedom, upgradability, repairability… And part of me wants a super high quality aluminum body, a trackpad so good you don’t even need a mouse, and whatever magic they do to make their screens look so good even if some PCs have higher resolutions nowadays.
They’ve often been on par with competitors tbh.
The X1 Carbon isn’t much cheaper than a Macbook Air and ditto for Dell XPS vs Macbook Pro. The Macs have better build quality usually, but the PCs would get better specs. RAM, at least.
The Galaxy S series stars in the same range as iPhones do, though you get a better screen. But in the Ultra and Pro Max versions the screens trade blows and the iPhone is apparently cheaper.
I also switched after about 10 years of dunking on iPhone users for accepting locked up phones with inferior hardware.
Turns out the software experience is a lot better and if you want access to your banking apps, you have to keep your Androids locked up nowadays anyway. I’d always ran custom roms, but one day I couldn’t anymore so I thought long and hard and in the end just went to the nearest Apple store and bought an iPhone.
So… basically everyone but Firefox (and maybe Safari?) are based on Chromium to some degree?
Technically Chromium is based on Safari to some degree, but they split ways a long, long time ago.
Ladybird is eventually going to be a brand new browser on its’ own engine, hopefully.
Servo is being worked on again, so that’s something.
I’m neither a, s nor p lmao.
So why don’t you move back to Russia? Presumably you still have a citizenship.
So many Russians abroad praise the homeland while enjoying the relative freedom that other countries bring to the table. Yet none seem to understand that others don’t want to live in Russia either.
Ukrainians tend to be proud of their national identity - which, yes, I know, only Russians are allowed to be, but apparently many people don’t seem to care - so it’s pretty hard to convince them to go back to being second class citizens of yet another attempt at a Russian Empire.
They have no reason not to at this point.
Do you think a single Ukrainian wants to live under Russian rule now? The few I’ve spoken to don’t even want to be spoken to in the language and that was even BEFORE 2014.
Wow, POV is used correctly for a change!
Dude, most of Europe is also pledged to help the US when attacked. In fact the US is the ONLY country ever to have invoked article 5.
Ukraine is not a member but is strategically important to NATO because it’s strategically important to the Russian empire’s restoration, which we kinda want to prevent. Plus they’ll be a powerful ally once they can join, which they really want to nowadays.
Now the US could go full isolationist, but if a Russian-Chinese alliance takes over all of Eurasia, y’all are really going to lose out on a lot of trade and access to resources, plus might actually be susceptible to invasion if you have no allies left.
Should be installing Firefox anyway, otherwise why don’t you just use Edge, it’s also Chromium…
