It really was better than it had any right to be. Quite generous for a gatcha, and the gameplay was top notch.
I dropped off it a couple years back when the power creep just ended up forcing the grind to a level I wasn’t willing to keep up with, but I’d love to see the BRV/HP combat system adapted out into another game.
Let’s just hope this one launches on something other than Apple Arcade.
As someone who hates Soulslikes but loves FF, I thought it was great. Loved the worlds themed for the different games, plus the story was fun and walked a nice line between serious and silly.
I do wish that the DLCs weren’t gated behind the high difficulty levels, though. I would have loved to continue on into those fights with WoL and the Emperor and such, but there’s no way in hell I’m subjecting myself to the level of Soulslike masochism that it would actually take to do it.

They don’t. They just think content is generated in a vacuum and it’s their right to consume it in whatever way they see fit.
I’d really prefer to have the option to make it look/feel like old.reddit. The biggest reason I’m off reddit right now is because I’m concerned the third-party appsassination is going to make them think they can kill off old.reddit, too. Coming over here where it’s just aping new.reddit kinda defeats the purpose.
Yeah, each of the DLCs has you playing as one of the other Chocobros (and Ardyn), and once they’d created their individual gameplay styles, they rolled the option to swap characters into the main game (although it’s locked in the progression system, so you have to earn the ability to switch to each of them).
