Lemmy is just bursting at the seams with miserable fucks like this.
They are saying that because Boeing doesn’t make the engines.
Some people have that choice, sure.
They’re free games though. You may be on a crusade against the epic store and I don’t like multiple stores/launchers/exclusives either, but it’s pretty shitty to begrudge people for downloading and playing free games just because you think it’s counterproductive to the progress of your pet issue. The Outer Worlds is a good game with a compelling story, and your average person who would like to play that game doesn’t have a bunch of spare cash available to buy it when the option of getting it for free is available and extremely easy.
FLACs/Qobuz via Roon. I spend the most time in my office so that’s where my favorite setup is. LS50 Metas + SVS SB-1000 Pro + Peachtree GaN stack.
I also love my HD660s with the Bottlehead Crack tube amp I built.
But I want it ALL NOW!!!
So sorry to interrupt your circlejerk about this guy’s opinion on 3d V-Cache technology with a tangentially related discussion about 3d V-Cache technology here on the technology community.
I fully understand the point you’re trying to make here, but just as you think my comments added nothing to the discussion, your replies to them added even less.
I was comparing the 7950x and the 7950x3d because those are the iterations that are available right now and what I have been personally comparing as I mentioned. I apologize if I wasn’t clear enough on that point.
My point was that the essence of the take, which I read to be, “CPUs with lower clocks but way more cache only offer major advantages in specific situations” is not particularly off base.
Ok so I am about to build a new rig, and looking at the specs the X3D does seem less powerful and more expensive than the regular 7950.
While I completely agree that this guy seems extremely biased and that he comes off like an absolute dickbag, I don’t think the essence of his take is too far off base if you strip off the layers of spite.
Really, it seems like the tangible benefit of the X3D that most people will realize is that it offers similar performance with lower energy consumption, and thus lower cooling requirements. Benchmarks from various sources seem to bear this out as well.
It seems like a chip that in general performs on par with the 7950x but with better efficiency, and if you have a specific workload that can benefit from the extra cache it might show a significant improvement. Higher end processors these days already have a fuckton of cache so it isn’t surprising to me that this doesn’t benchmark much better than the cheaper 7950x.
Yes, you are correct on broad terms. Life has no objective meaning. It has a lot of subjective meaning, though.
You loved your cat and your cat loved you. You wouldn’t be upset about this if those two things weren’t true. Does that matter in the grand scheme of things? No, but it matters to you and it mattered to your cat.
I understand where you’re coming from. I have lived in despair after friends, family, and pets have “moved on”. It never gets easier, and I am tearing up thinking about the many moments like this that I have experienced, and the many more that I will experience.
It’s probably very hard to hear right now, but you should soldier through this. You don’t have to, but there are a lot of relationships that you will experience that you don’t even know about yet. There are people and pets that you haven’t met yet or that haven’t even been born yet who you will have an impact on, and who will have an impact on you.
And though this kind of loss is not something that a human can ever really leave behind, one day you will understand it, and you’ll leave a comment like this one. And you’ll know that every relationship we have is valuable (in one way or another) and worth sticking around to experience.
Life is meaningless, but only on a grand scale. The pain you’re feeling now only tells you that life is worth experiencing, even if it doesn’t really mean anything in the end.
RIP to your cat. You probably won’t ever really, “get over” the loss, but this relationship has helped you understand how to love.
You and Tim Apple can both be right on this one.
Seems to me like they are targeting people who likely have access to assets that can be easily stolen and hard to track.
My previous landlord was amazing. Dealt with every issue that arose in a timely fashion, never raised my rent (which was already very fair based on the location), and even installed central AC after my first kid was born since the house was old and could get pretty hot in the summers.
And she wasn’t the only good landlord I’ve had.
Sorry your experience has been bad with renting, and I agree that most landlords are terrible (I’ve had plenty of those as well), but just because you haven’t ever had a good landlord doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
I’ve had good luck recently with Gigabyte. I know it’s circumstantial but my hope is that they are recovering.
