My wife’s HP laptop does this as well (she is running Windows). A previous laptop did this and a BIOS update fixed it. For most laptops the official response from manufacturers seems to be: eat shit.

PEGI 18 for gambling imagery 😐
So I guess the poop knife hardly ever gets used in your house then.
For everyone in this thread: there is a “parent’s guide” section for every movie on IMDB that describes the objectionable scenes in every category. Spoilers are hidden, but if you’re going to watch a movie with sensitive people, then it is worth putting up with spoilers to know the extent of the awkwardness that awaits.
Example for The Lighthouse (with warnings about what OP posted): https://m.imdb.com/title/tt7984734/parentalguide/nudity
I love my Deck.
If you’re interested in higher performance, have a use case for a desktop, are willing to go for used parts you put together yourself; then you could get a really decent performance PC for the price of a Deck.
I never needed to use command line, but I did hone my typing skills on MIRC and ICQ.
That still only solves 75% of your problems. You’ll need to buy an infinite number of books to get to 100%.
“People who are really serious about software should make their own hardware.”
The only way to make sure Linux works like that is to have a closed hardware environment. But it has to play nicely with other hardware and services (e.g. printers, webcams, etc + office documents, etc). It has taken a very long time for MacOS to get to this point, but people put up with Mac compromises because enough things worked smoothly.
I’ve just commented about this in another thread…but I’m pretty convinced that Linux is not close to being ready for normies.
Preparing food in the shower was good enough for Kramer.
Aren’t there dedicated communities for political memes? I blocked those for a reason. Why is more and more politics bleeding over to here?
I have an anti-glare LCD version. My brother has a glossy OLED version. I would recommend going for the glossy version and using an anti-glare screen protector if you feel the need. Then you’ve got the option for either.
Living is an extremely high demand product and capitalists have realised that they can charge whatever they want for it.
The Steam Deck + OLED revision are pretty recent and nowhere near the age of a normal console cycle. The OLED revision was a pretty big upgrade and <1 year old. The internet is already desperate for a Deck 2? Valve could print money by doing what phone manufacturers do with miniscule yearly upgrades and forever creeping price. People would fall over themselves to avoid FOMO for the newest console. I’m really glad Valve is doing better than that.
“Rick and roll” 😆
So far it seems like people develop around the ideas laid down by social media giants. Rather than replicating, it would be good to see incorporation of healthier options (e.g. time monitoring displayed in app, stopping endless scrolling and keeping to page by page scrolling, avoiding prioritising low effort content (by showing older posts in people’s feeds as well and displaying more that prompts comments rather than just upvotes, etc). Don’t know how they would design to minimise the hivemind…there’s still plenty of that.
It’s great that the devs are doing this and great that people enjoy this…but WTF did they turn this game into? When they dropped an item that turns you into a Guacamelee chicken, I felt like they were straying too far from their own game’s identity. I still play the game, but I’ve got it locked to just before the patch with “Everyone’s here”.
If we keep using the current version and it never gets any updates, will it keep running the whole Switch game library.
