I feel like linux users benefit the most from arm since we can build our software natively for arm with access to the source code.

I’m very interested in these.
That’s only for minorities and poor people.

My understanding is that they are making new version based on opengamepadUI. I made a video playing around with it on a steamdeck running EndeavorOS with opengamepadUI installed as a DE. It’s very alpha so IDK how it’s going to work for them. https://makertube.net/w/1JtXgbupmgcjJbRD4o7Wpa
It’s $500 for a 7840u. It’s not bad IMO. https://neo.manjaro.org/#specs
I’m excited for this handheld. I’m planning on picking one up just to support more foss based hardware.
If anyone is interested in a similar project check out open-game-pad-ui. It features a plug system for stores. Right now there is only steam and flatpak but eventually there could be other stores. It’s really not ready to be daily drive but it is functional.
So there revenue model is to sell the os to OEM and offer support? Good luck with that.
For me, I only keep digital music and in flac form if I can get it in high quality. I personally don’t have any nostalgia for physical stuff.
Oh, damn I have one of these in one of my systems. I’m going to have to find it now and replace it. :(
I think the blender institute self-hosts with git tea. https://projects.blender.org/blender/blender
Yeah, I’m in Arizona like the other guy.
Mines out for delivery today. I’m so hyped. I got the special edition one.
edit: Just got it. It’s beautiful
I wonder if one day we will reach a turning point where only opensource/federated services will be around because everything else destroys its self in seek of more profit.
This is great lol
It’s how I understood this ifixit article: https://www.ifixit.com/News/11208/batterygate-timeline
Alright, I did some brief research into this because I have just been talking out my ass this whole time. I think the crux of the issues is that the affected Iphones basically have a battery deign flaw and can not supply the current the Iphones needs at peak power after a year or so of degradation. It seems apple should have recalled the phones and fixed the flaw. But instead they band-aid fixed it with software and changed how the phone work fundamentally and hoped no one would call them out.
I think if your changing something very fundamental then you should give the user some way to opt out of it. It’s not necessary for example, a security patch (that doesn’t meaningfully impact performance) or a new feature because users can just not use them. In the battery gate case, the performance of device impacts everything you do on it.
Man that eee pc, disks, and ipod are an instant nostalgia trigger for me. I miss my net books. Not enough to go buy one though.
