I use Firefox most of the time, but if I really need to stretch the battery life I’ll use Safari. It seems significantly faster and more power efficient than anything else I’ve used. If it had better plugin support, it’d be my daily driver. Can’t say I’ve ever had issues with it rendering a page.

The issue is how it’s being used. It’s not being used to detect cancer. It’s being used for “efficiency”, which means more patients being seen by fewer nurses. It’s furthering the goals of the business majors in hospital administration, not the nurses or doctors who are caring for the patient.
NoScript is redundant with uBlock medium mode.
Roughly similar to using Adblock Plus with many filter lists + NoScript with 1st-party scripts/frames automatically trusted. Unlike NoScript however, you can easily point-and-click to block/allow scripts on a per-site basis.

This study says that standing for more than two hours increases risk of certain things like blood clots. It also says sitting for a whole shift is bad, and you should be moving every 30 minutes. This does not mean standing desks are useless; I’m not standing for my circulatory system, I’m standing for my back. I also don’t stand for an entire shift, that’s what’s great about the memory settings. I’ll switch back and forth depending on what I feel like doing. Sometimes I’ll have it on “sit” all day, other times I’m switching back and forth quite a bit. I don’t think they’re useless, nor do I think it’s some health miracle, but it does give me more flexibility and I don’t think I’d go without after having used one.

I found out about them during the Napster/Kazaa era looking for 311 songs and their song “311 sucks” came up. I thought it was funny, then again, I was an edgy teenager at that time.
I suspected this was an Anal Cunt track by the title and looking it up proved my suspicions correct.
Any of the big compound medical words are fun to say and construct IMO. Adrenocorticotropic, deoxyribonucleic, those kinda words. They seem big and scary but they’re quite descriptive and once you know the “formula” behind them it’s not too bad. Maybe not the most fun words but I feel good every time I can use one and deploy it like it’s no big deal (ie my mouth doesn’t fuck it up). It’s like executing a big combo with your mouth.
I love the Metro series; I played 2033 near its release, beaten Exodus three times (once at release and 2x after release of the Enhanced edition) and just recently beat Last Light Redux. I should probably play 2033 Redux now.
Closely related, I’m very excited for STALKER 2; Shadow of Chernobyl was my first love back in 2008 and I’ve played all three of those a bunch of times.
Good rant, thanks for sharing. I felt it was massively over hyped to me also considering the games you mentioned came out well before and had better storytelling, gameplay, and graphics. It was solidly mediocre to me. I did play it through to completion though, maybe a bit of rage-completion there.

I don’t feel Spec Ops: The Line aged well at all. I had it on my to-play list for years and finally got around to playing it. I was rather disappointed in what I experienced. The gunplay and cover system is middling at best, and the story wasn’t anything like the hype led me to believe. Graphics are also way behind its contemporaries. It may have been groundbreaking when it came out in a very pro-war, pro-military time, but it wasn’t anything special by the time I played it 2023. I finished the game wondering what people felt was so special about it. The lack of decision making removed impact from what my character was doing, namely the infamous white phosphorus part. You can’t advance the game without performing the worst possible action, which is the only thing to do at that point in the level. Lame.
Music was good but overall I felt it was a 6/10 game. I think watching YouTube commentaries on the game is much more enjoyable than actually playing it.

If you need to do the actual calculation, double the celsius value, subtract the tens digit (i.e. -10%), add 32. For example:
Double it: 20 * 2 = 40
Subtract the tens digit: 40 - 4 = 36
Add 32: 36+32 = 68
