Reddit is also almost 20 years old. Lemmy’s like what, maybe two? Reddit wasn’t super great in 2006 either.

Then you can move to another instance or host your own. They can’t buy them all up.
It’s going to take a longer time to fill up the less tech-inclined subs. /c/Self-hosted is growing quickly but I’m probably not going to see that with /c/crochet for a bit. If your journaling sub is unrestricted on Reddit maybe you could make a post advertising the Lemmy community.
yo dawg I heard you like blockers
What’s your community, illegallysmoldogs? I have two criminals myself. Subbed.
You’ll have to wait. Reddit took a long time to get to where it is now. Lemmy can get there too, but it won’t be overnight.
Steve Huffman is a breathtakingly gross human being.
I have a 13 year old 1tb WD mypassport that I loaded up with pirated movies and took with me to Afghanistan. It’s been through a lot, and it’s still working well today, not even a blip of an issue. Such a shame when companies drop off in quality.
Oh, that may be it. Thanks!
I’m crossing my fingers for a LiF is Fun for Lemmy lol
Are the algorithms that determine how our “front pages” are populated set at each Lemmy instance or by the protocol as a whole? Aside from blocked instances.
Is it bad I’d like to see some more
If Meta or Google tries to buy your instance, you can migrate to another one. They can’t buy them all up.
You’re right. After almost a decade and a half on reddit, I’d forgotten that it also had a learning curve when I first came across it.
I guess that speaks to how terrible the official reddit app is, I’d rather learn a whole new site with a whole new framework than view reddit without RiF is Fun.
I’m warming up to it, but I’m not a fan of the auto-refresh and links moving right as I want to click them
Seems like no matter what, the communities that were on reddit are fragmented. Some people stay on reddit, some quit social media, and some get scattered across two dozen lemmy instances. What a shame.
If they were worried about money, then they should have remained a link aggregation/discussion board site instead of hosting media themselves.
They also could have saved money by remaining a link aggregator/discussion board instead of deciding to host media as well. Any surge in costs is their own fault.
thanks for everything you’re doing man
The ability to create multis could solve that. I could make a local Edinburgh multi, sub to both of the communities, and view them together in one feed for example.
