This is something that I feel like Brave New World got a lot more right. In that book, people’s pleasures are their prisons.
I don’t really have a direct reply to these ideas but I would like to point out an interesting example of a business model that addresses some of these concerns, that is the worker cooperative, where the workers have some portion of ownership of the company, either in revenue sharing or decision making.
Hooooo boy yeah that’s a spicy one
oh true, forgot about that
eh, there’s places you can spend crypto on the internet these days. But your point still stands
Alternatively you could have the log-in symbolic icon
The dev is very responsive to issues in the github, def go and submit this request there. I made 4 issues and they closed them all within 24 hours.
The way it works is that there’s not one lemmy site, there’s many different sites, or “instances” that people can host on their own servers—lemmy.world and lemm.ee are two of these. The catch is that they are “federated”, meaning that a user in one instance can see, vote on, comment on, etc posts from another instance. That’s why you can be on lemmy.world and see posts from [email protected]. So if lemmy.world goes down it’s as simply as typing in another instance to your address bar :^)
I feel like this is well described lmao
lol I don’t think most furries want to be talking animals any more than rpg players or cosplayers want to be fantasy characters. I’m sure some do but definitely not all
Yeah, jokes aside, I agree with that. I think it’s funny how people are as quick to label anyone supportive of anthro anything as a furry as they are to hate on actual furries themselves.
Anyone interested in this topic should check out the book “Nutmeg’s Curse”
