1 year agoSo how are they going to enforce this? The FTC says codifying rules can help it be much more efficient in court — but it isn’t actually getting any additional enforcement resources. It could also still face hurdles trying to go after offending businesses that are based overseas, if they’re in countries that don’t have a history of working with the FTC.
I started reading the article thinking how this was going to be detected or enforced but then they go on to say that it’s just “rules” and no additional resources for enforcement will actually be leveraged. At least the product swapping will be somewhat obvious if customers report it.
I think there is gonna be some easy content as people get used to the federated communities. The reusing of community names l could get confusing, an example could be like like r/anime_titties. It could have very different content depending on who is running it.
