Haha, I’m glad I wasted all my (gifted) Reddit Gold on Christian’s farewell to Apollo posts.
Obligatory fuck u/spez, as we used to say on that old site.
That’s a top tip! I’ll update our instructions to our users. Thanks!
It took them a worryingly long time to process mine, but they did reply just before Fleddit day, so I think it’s incompetence rather than conspiracy.
There’s this if anyone needs a starter: https://lemmy.world/post/959507
I wrote a simple updater that uses your GDPR request data to drive a browser automation tool (Puppeteer) to update your entire account history. It’s in Dart and should be easy to adapt into other languages https://lemmy.world/post/959507
And on the same day when they fucked up their infrastructure so badly that they had to rate-limit all users. Yeah, okay Elon, you can host my community for me.
I hate that this comment got downvoted. It’s a valid thing to worry about and has generated some interesting replies
Yes, if you don’t tip they will call you a Canadian or worse.
I may be new in Lemmy years but I’m old in Reddit years, so that’s gonna stay unclicked 😀
I’ve been trying to create a few accounts on different servers today (not for spam, for dev work :-) and it seems to me that this is happening primarily when I try to create accounts from Safari. If I fire up Chrome everything runs correctly, so this may be a UI issue rather than backend. I don’t know if that helps or hinders…
If you are able to reset or delete limbodev, that would be appreciated!
Yes things seem a lot snappier!
Could you have a look at https://lemmy.world/u/limbodev? I tried setting it up last night and got the spinner and no confirmation email. I can see the account was created, but get the spinner if I try to log on to it.
Hooray! And thank you.
Are you aware that creating a new account sometimes gets a spinner that seems to hang forever too? Is that related?
Yes, the group name remains with a deleted flag set. I’ve seen an admin for its home instance go in and delete them when it was brought to their attention, so that’s an option for anyone else having this issue in the future.
It’s crazy isn’t it? Six months in and Mastodon still hasn’t clicked for me, but six days here and I know I’m not going back to Reddit.
Yeah, if I’m anything to go by, you’d need to divide these figures by at least three to get to the number of new people. Still, it’s not a bad start.
If you’ve got any puzzling items around, post them to What is this thing? for us to work on. New content is very welcome!
Yeah, but it’s nice to realise that other people are going ‘huh?’ at some of this stuff too.
I feel your pain 😀
When I read the instructions for this group I was surprised how many different formats there were, some of which didn’t seem to do anything for me. I just worked on the assumption that each of them must support some different users or use cases. Hopefully this will all settle down at some point and we’ll all know exactly what links to use for what purpose 🤞
So sad that everyone’s talking about the phone calls rather than asking if Gail’s okay.
