Am just a poor peasent fastfood worker lol, I joined Lemmy because I was looking for reddits alts and I saw some people saying “don’t try to understand it too much just sign up” so I did.

That’s a big brain move right there, that’s sure to work I bet.

It is estimated that Reddit’s moderators contribute $3.4 million worth of unpaid labour per year to maintain its communities. That amounts to about 3% of the company’s revenue. Reddit’s in-house moderation team is not likely in a position to plug that gap – and we’ve already seen, via Twitter, how faltering moderation can affect advertising revenue. The longer this protest goes on, the more damage it does to Reddit’s potential share price
