That’s because those are measurable factors in a game, things that can be objectively measured. “Fun” and “playability” though are subjective, so a journalist has a harder time telling you if a game will work for you.

I should explain, here’s how I ended up on this page:
The only opera I’ve been to so far was in Vienna. They have a tourist option where you can stand in the back, under the seats good people sit in, for like 5 euros. My friend and I did that with the other filthy travellers until we couldn’t stand any longer, about 30 minutes.

This. When you install a desktop environment (DE) in most Linux distros, it’s just available, not forced on you. Then, as OC said, you can choose which to use each time you login.
