This omission makes me wonder if they mean Tesla specifically or just using it as an euphemism for everything its overlord touches.

Generally I find they are. Herbs are leaves, flowers and (herbaceous) stems, spices are other parts. A plant might provide both a herb and a spice, but they will typically be different parts of a plant.

Tea would be a herb.

Yeah, this is much the same kind of use. If you work on the assumption that it is just something that has read everything, and everything that has been written about everything you can find it’s utility. Folk want it to be some kind of fact genie, but the only facts it knows are what words go together, and it literally doesn’t know the difference between real and made up.

Isn’t the entire purpose of copilot that it shouldn’t need much in the way of training? I think the extent of it at my employer is “this is the one you use.”

I’ve tried it a few times, the only thing it seems remotely good for is when your recollection of a source is too fuzzy to form a traditional search query around. “What’s that book series I read in the early 2000s about kids who traveled to another world and the things they brought back from it just looked like junk.” Kind of questions.

Unironically? Maybe not. But using something ironically is still using it.

A lot of it is follow the leader type bullshit. For companies in areas where AI is actually beneficial they have already been implementing it for years, quietly because it isn’t something new or exceptional. It is just the tool you use for solving certain problems.

Investors going to bubble though.

Not going to be useful. They don’t want a democracy, they don’t want a justice system. They want a king and the ability to use state power to shit on other people.

But what are they filtering for?

Exponential growth looks fast but if you adopt an even faster strategy like the tree sequence you should be able to outpace your opponent.

It is a bit of a pay to win mechanic, so I hope they fix both these exploits in the next patch.

Yeah, yeah Ship of Theseus but I think when you melt down, mix with other things and then recast you’ve it’s a new thing. That or all they succeeded in doing was making several haunted a-bombs and that strikes me as a bad move.

I suppose in that sense it was unfortunate they didn’t let it get to the rule of 3.

People seem to forget that the demon core killed far less people than it was intended to.

Eh… Close, but they are also a concentration social power (and fundamentally deferred violence), and rights only really exist in the context of social power. You can try and establish your own personal sovereignty but you can be sure that any state that cares to will test that. Sometimes the most you can do is accept that it is able to imprison you or go down fighting, and if you are committed to pacifism the latter is a harder option.

My understanding is that there is no such thing as an assumed licence for copyrighted work. The default is that there is no license and the owner reserves all rights. A license is a way to assign some or all of those rights to another entity.

The downside to copyleft is that you are giving up some of the ability to control the work, and it becomes harder to monetize as some people will question why they should pay for something they can have for free.

As far as I know, you can’t use copyright to prevent someone from reading something that has been legally distributed to them. There are also some exceptions your government includes in copyright, like you can be quoted for the purposes of commentary and criticism, there may be exceptions for copies made for educational purposes or an exception that allows the government to make a copy for their archives, or if someone has legal access they might be able to make copies for personal use.

In all cases check your local laws. Copy left is a way to exploit these laws to allow humans to more easily benefit from your work but keep exploitative entities away. All of these only work within a legal framework however.

Their god commanded them to have lots of kids. The idea crops up again and again in fundamentalist abrahamic movements. This world is bad but that doesn’t matter as it is just the doorstep before paradise.
