  • This is a ridiculous analogy. It’s also to the point of technically arguing one side while sarcastically supporting the other.

And it also ignores my actual point and sets up a straw man anyway. All you’re doing is trying to claim I’m making a no true Scotsman fallacy. I am not. I never said every case of communism wasn’t communism. I even implicitly stated otherwise by saying communism hasn’t been attempted that many times for a statistical significant trend. I stated the failures mentioned were do to other problems. I’m not even claiming communism can or can’t work. Just that the arguments provided don’t support the conclusion. Being quippy doesn’t give a free pass to avoid using logic and reason. I’ve even made comments against people making bad arguments in support of communism. I just want to see real discussions about it and not folks repeating sound bites from their favorite talking heads.

  • You act as if it’s been tried any amount of time that would be statistically significant. Sometimes it’s not even communism other than in name and folks still count it.

And it doesn’t devolve into it. It’s simply always been done at the same time. When you have essentially a dictatorship, absolute power will corrupt absolutely.

A practical distinction historically speaking, but not philosophically speaking. If you’re unable to differentiate between concepts in history, I don’t know how you can ever effectively discuss them objectively. Though, this should have been evident with your comment initially. Communism doesn’t devolve into authoritarianism. They’re not even the same types of philosophies. One is about governing and one is about commerce. It’s like claiming capitalism devolves into a plutocracy. It does help to produce a plutocracy, but it didn’t devolve into one. They’re not the same thing.

  • Income share isn’t actually a good indicator of anything on its own. One would at the very least need to provide some sort of inflation chart and some sort of equivalent to a consumer price index. Like, it wouldn’t mean much if they all had the same income if that income couldn’t buy bread for example. not saying that was or was not the case, just using an example of how the given charts are meaningless on their own. That you provided them without even trying to provide context means you’re unaware of this and are ignorant to the issue or you’re actively misleading people.

  • I think you’re missing the point. It’s that they built it to begin with. And it’s not always enclosed. Stadiums exist all over that aren’t air conditioned and don’t close. It’s the level of effort to overcome the heat. Yet we still can’t air condition damn Amazon warehouses or UPS trucks. Both of those have had folks pass out from heat.

  • But the same result would occur in socialism. Even communism. I don’t know what you expect to happen in any societal economic structure that would suddenly give you the freedom to do whatever you want whenever you want. Jobs existed the same way all the way back then as they do now. And that was the birth of capitalism, not before it. Most didn’t own their land. It belonged to a king or emperor. Sure there are exceptions and caveats, but to say capitalism didn’t exist back then isn’t accurate. Capitalism isn’t bad. It’s how it’s implemented that makes it awful. I think we need to migrate to socialism via capitalism. But it requires winning of the minds of the populace and that won’t happen until folks have an accurate understanding of both capitalism and whatever system you want them to transition to. I don’t even know what system you’re supporting with your question. It sounds like you’re trying to describe some sort of star trek utopia that supposedly is advanced beyond economic systems (yet how many episodes revolved around trade deals between planets and races… but I digress).

  • Before the link was edited, when it was just a raw url with no markdown code.

It’s always with markdown. Lemmy is the only web app that can access it without markdown. I explained it like four different ways now. If you don’t understand it by now, you never will.

It worked for me and it’s why I provided a full link. Since it was created on Kbin, it was escaped by Lemmy as well. So lemmy will display the app just like Kbin would. But anyone who creates a link on lemmy, it will always look wrong in every other web app or third party app. It’s simply not possible for a third party app to display a link properly that was created by a lemmy user. Same goes for code boxes. They can only be displayed properly by Lemmy and no one else. It’s not possible for third party apps to display them properly.

Lemmy is the only one that can display links and code boxes created by Lemmy users. Links and code boxes created by every other platform displays properly everywhere.

You’re literally hand waving it away because it still works even though it’s impossible to parse by any other app. Just because it is only aesthetic doesn’t mean it’s a bug. The bug affects jerboa more than Kbin. I still helped those users instead of your pretentious ass by saying “oh well, not my problem.”

When there’s a problem that only exists with lemmy, it’s lemmy.

Do you need me to explain it yet another way? Do you need an ELI5?

You’re the pretentious one speaking from some authority without having any clue what the fuck you’re talking about.

I’m done. You’re blocked so I won’t be angered by any stupid replies from you.

  • The link works for me. I was helping other folks who may have an issue with bare links as pointed out by the other commenter.

Either way, Lemmy is the reason non-lemmy readers can’t actually properly parse the information. The information is not what’s stored in the database. Only Lemmy can display it properly since it wraps it up in a bunch of markup that is then provided to third parties. As a developer, I don’t know what reasoning you still think you have to believe it’s not Lemmy. Everything you’ve said so far does nothing to backup that point.

Edit: also, I’m done here. I’m not interested in convincing a non-developer their favorite platform isn’t perfect.
