An armed society is a society where people are looking for someone to shoot.

Except they don’t even attempt to look like good people. Satan would think he’s been doing it all wrong, he should’ve just said “I’m here to rule over you all and destroy the world, vote for me”.
Of course. The more you have to spend on shelter, the less you have for everything else.
Cuts should be made at the top, not the bottom. Always. If you have to raise your rents, no you don’t. You have spare properties, you’re doing fine.
While it’s sad to see all these games begin to die a slow death, in reality, many of these titles are incredibly old and on last-gen platforms such as Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.
Yet much older games are still playable without functionality loss.
You don’t need upgrades to online services. You need to stop locking down games.
It’s called Christian Science.
Yeah, that can’t be a community or open source project. Maybe the result can be open source and free to implement, but even if you can artificially generate the training data, that all has to be a strictly controlled process.
Talk shows and podcasts rarely need video. I often prefer podcasts because they’re made for audio, rather than similar style videos where they seem to want to do something visual just because they can, not because it enhances the experience.
Work meetings don’t need video either, especially not a video feed of every single participant.
A bit annoyed about defederations and community blocks. If an instance wants to be an island by itself, fine, but you shouldn’t have to stay up to date with random announcements from each instance to figure out all the places you need to have an account to access all the content you want to.
Waterfox most of the time, Vivaldi for when I can’t be bothered to whitelist individual scripts.
Using underpaid prison labor to deny people access to well-paying jobs, forcing more people into difficult situations.
Babylon 5.
If you’re copying people’s comments without their consent, without their ability to delete them because it’s too resource intensive, that’s a GDPR issue.
A lot of US news sites are blocking themselves out of Europe instead of complying.
Animal feed is a huge category, vs. almonds. Almonds registering on that scale is what’s so shocking about it.
Edit: Not that it isn’t wasteful, if you need extra feed besides grazing, you’re in trouble ecologically.
Happened to me a couple of times, no dialog to confirm, just report created.
I liked the first half. The part that didn’t have the beast.
UPDATE: The lemmynsfw admins posted an clarification here: https://lemmynsfw.com/post/29826. My original argument for defederating doesn’t stand any more.
Drawn a.k.a. not real and not obviously underage a.k.a. not attempting to depict illegal situations, doesn’t seem like a problem.
Although I agree there should be more ways to filter instances, per user. A blacklist along with the whitelist that is subscription. Show local, show subscribed, show everything (except blacklisted).
I don’t think much good is going to happen until they fire their CEO. Which would require that reddit suffer some significant losses, not something that’s going to be accomplished in a week, but over much more time with increasing competition and content creators/managers moving out.
I think defederation works both ways, the posts you can see from lemmy.world are old copies, not being updated anymore.
The biggest state, bigger than many countries. How different can it be from other parts of the same country?
