Oh hey stux! Nice to see you here!
Yep! Same! That feature is definitely instrumental in my generally pro free speech position when it comes to Fediverse moderation. Bad actors usually tend to clump together in tight-knit instances.
Weird. Users should be able to block or mute instances.
If you’re committing stochastic terrorism you’re complicit in terrorism, but IDK if that actually makes you a terrorist.

It’s an overused term anyways since people incorrectly use it to refer to “extreme rhetoric” rather than speech that has specifically led to violence.
Can’t you block or mute instances yourself?
For me, searching using the remote URL works better.
Example URL: https://beehaw.org/c/technology
Actually they cannot say this because they are probably employed by the Chinese Government and would be put to death if they did.
Based on what? According to who?
I lemmy user Denounce the terrible treatment Xi Jing Ping has inflicted upon the Uighur Muslims. Slavery and concentration camps in China are wrong and not ok.
I’m on exploding-heads.com rn, and having a good time so far.
I’ve messed around with Kbin but the software’s federation features aren’t working that well, so I’m sticking with Lemmy for now.
You’re wrong, moderation and censorship are the same thing. People just call censorship they like “moderation”, and they call moderation that they don’t like “censorship”.
Using Lemmy is fine, don’t be afraid to use Lemmy. We’re just talking about how lemmy.ml’s practices affect Lemmy’s reputation.
It’s 100% marketing, which is what this thread is about, no? Lemmy.ml’s moderation practices are bad marketing for the project as a whole.
No, the only way you can be a terrorist is to physically attack someone. I refuse to adhere to the fascist ideology that states that speech must be policed because bad people exist.
No, it’s proof that a community affiliated with the larger project can affect the project’s reputation, while a community unaffiliated with the larger project typically does not do so.
This, their moderation practices have been noticeable enough that they’re scaring users away with their blatant support of historically fascist regimes
It’s not just lemmygrad, but lemmy.ml as well that are tarnishing Lemmy’s reputation.
The problem is just that the lemmygrad and lemmy.ml admins and mods are giving Lemmy as a whole a bad name. The same thing has happened to Mastodon.
Thanks! It’s working now.
