Kagi did it for me. I set it as default search engine when it was new, and I actually forgot about it. Thats how good it is.
It’s the same results as Google, just ranked differently so you don’t get all the junk. You will discover lots of new web sites that are quite good.

I think there is nothing like it. It’s not perfect but it’s damn good still.
It’s not slow, people are slow in their heads. Chrome may feel a bit faster but it’s not even what matters when picking a web browser. Will it protect your privacy online? Yes or no.

Best thing about the internet was being able to find what I was looking for, before corporations wanted to monetize everything.
BBSes :) Because it was fantastic that we could dial eachothers computers and just share files and chat. Before that every computer were an island.
I feel the same with the fediverse now. The tech can create communities where people can talk without big tech being involved.
Actually it seems that port 587 is open (starttls) while port 465 (tls) is closed. I can connect to port 587 on my email server from my Hetzner instance (im also using them).
But how should the config look like to forward emails? How does your config look like?

I think it’s better with less choices for beginners actually. I remember a lot of people didn’t get started on mastadon because they were afraid to pick an instance.
It’s almost so it would be good if this could just be a checkbox “pick a good instance for me” and it would pick a medium populated instance from the list.
I’m a little bit confused by the federation thing. How would I let my instance talk to any other instance except the ones I blacklist?

Also i would love to see country but that’s doesn’t seem to be included in the Lemmy app. I guess you could do a ip lookup on some service to see country if you really wanted to.
