Well, these events made me reconsider subscribing in the first place, as the people benefiting from my subscription used it more than myself, so that was a good opportunity to cancel my subscription.
Just like… everything that’s federated? XMPP, Mastodon, Lemmy ?
As soon as you’re in the room (messaging) or following someone or something (social networking), you want to store all their content, so that you have it even if their server is down.
And ? Obviously it’s not the for-profit structure which would benefit from donations. VC money is one way of financing things (which has the cash burn rate issue), public money and donations is another, why would changing from one model to another be something bad?
