Turn off the lights and use your phone camera and look for a dim light. They usually have an infrared bulb to see at night.
Yeah this is what I do. My subscribed feed is all news and discussion (and good discussion at that!), and then I go to All to see the memes. I first I subscribed to a meme community or two and it dominated my feed.
A one-day minor downtick isn’t a trend when it’s been up day-over-day for a while now. I’m sure the user counts will ebb and flow over time, but as long as the community stays healthy and the big social media companies keep being greedy, I think this platform has a good shot at long-term viability.
The fact that this is still online is awesome.
Here we give them lemjobs instead. You gotta help post daddy get his lemmys off.
It’s 2010 all over again. We all used Digg and reddit was mostly for the techies. But as Digg kept digging its heels in, reddit become more and more palatable over time. Eventually it reached a critical mass and we all jumped ship and never looked back.
Some apps have it but not the website.
Oh most definitely. It makes everyone feel awkward, and that’s the point.
Go to the community page and hit the “Block Community” button.
Hot is good but it works more like “rising” on reddit did. I sort of go between hot and top 6/12 hour for a combo of rising things and things that have a lot of interaction but aren’t stale.
Well shit…you’re right.
Its dumb, but whenever someone mentions peaches I always hit them with “I could eat peaches for hours”. An obscure line from Face Off but for whatever reason it’s stuck in my head over all these years. No one ever gets the reference.
I was interested about this game by the article, but what is FACEIT?
Just buy poo-pourri and take a poo my guy. N one will know.
My smaller instance doesn’t suffer from this problem, I think it’s just some of the larger ones.
It’s hard. People tend to settle into their routines and go through the motions of they’re life - people are no longer thrust into new stages of life together (high school / college / start of career). That being said, people still make time for their hobbies, and are typically very excited to meet other people who share the same interests and hobbies as them. Find a hobby or activity that you like, or think you might like, and find some local groups that do that thing. Could be hiking, gardening, sewing, rock climbing, whatever! Just find a local group of people and give it a shot. Friendships can happen naturally from that. Some will be more acquaintances, but as you get to meet more people it becomes more likely that some of them will stand out as true friends.
Or trying to make one on the beach in Fiji with a partner or a local.
