Technology generally isn’t good or bad. A surgeon’s scalpel for example, can both heal or hurt, depending on the skill and intentions of the user.

What AI is, is powerful. Which makes it good in the hands of some, and very, very bad in the hands of others. This isn’t just about censorship or capitalism. One of the first of the newer AIs was able to generate 1,000s of novel lethal compounds overnight by changing a single parameter. That’s just on the medical/warfare/terrorism side of things.

Social trust is likely to erode as deep fake technology gets into the hands of literally everyone. State actors will go after other states, as we’re seeing in elections already. And rogue actors will be able to spread misinformation or use the technology to con people. Corporate actors are already using the technology to manipulate people for profit. With harmful outcomes apparent.

I’m not an AI hater btw. The advances we’ll see in medical technology, microbiology, and understanding large systems like weather and societies, will be and is amazing. But, there’s no guard rails at the moment and won’t be any likely in the years ahead. It will be a wild ride and AI is just one more thing that’s going to drastically change our world in the coming two decades. Some of it will be good. And a lot of it will be bad.

Or maybe people should be prepared for the worst because a violent felon was just elected to run the country?

The current DA is pretty fucking liberal as far as DAs go.

They made the presentation and the day before asked for permission to use it. In another place in the article, Alcon stated that the price they charge to use their IP tends to run in the eight figure range.

I can understand Musk and Tesla doing this. But I’m really surprised a Warner Bros studio thought they could pull it off without getting sued.

Raging narcissism

Shrink flation is a form of price gouging because it’s deceptive.

Before inflation hit I bought the same brand of chips for over a year. The company both raised the prices and reduce the size of the container.

Effectively raising the price on me twice while hiding half of the price increase.

Once I saw that they had reduced the size of the bag of chips by 20%, and had tried to price gouge me, I switched to a different brand of chips.

Some inflation is going to happen naturally and I accept that. But this was not natural inflation where corporations had to raise the prices. It was greed.

The initial price increase was enough to cover inflation. The rest went to shareholders. If the price increase had been fair, they wouldn’t have hid it behind shrinkflation.

They weren’t lying. You’re spreading misinformation that’s killing children, which is bad. And continually refuse to engage with anything other than your preconceived opinions when literally everyone is disagreeing with you, which is small-minded.

Hormones absolutely affect more than cosmetic things.

I started hormone replacement therapy 2 months ago. I spent four decades before that wanting to commit suicide.

I still mostly look like a man and my mental health has vastly improved. I’m less defensive less reactionary more open. I get a long better with everybody in my life.

Including myself.

Being congruent with your gender both chemically and socially helps people feel more joy happiness and self-acceptance.

That is not cosmetic and you have no idea what you’re talking about.

The vast majority of doctors that specialize in gender care and endocrinology disagree with that small minority of doctors who aren’t specialists in this field.
