Unfortunately, yes. I was lucky enough to get a not so insignificant space in onedrive. It has helped me out more times than I can count. I clearly understand why this feature is included, and no it’s not so that boomers don’t lose it out. It is pure marketing.

I use winaero to customize this pc folder and the left navigation pane. Doing this means I have custom items in both of them. But onedrive automatically adds itself to the left pane every time I remove it. Some time ago a used a batch file to automatically write the registery entry to remove it, but microsoft started rewriting the default after a few hours. At that point it was just frustrating so I gave up.

Now every time microsoft asks if I will recommend windows I say its good but since it’s forced down my throat, I won’t recommend it

I use edge and onedrive. I like my settings in a particular way. However, microsoft thinks it’s okay to change the system settings every few days because in their infinite wisdom I can’t use their products enough without them forcing them down my throat every chance they get.

It’s gotten to a point where I change the settings via registery key, but after a few hours it reverts back

I’ve seen many kids well into their 30s, and I’ve seen many old souls just entering 20s. Maturity comes at different stages for everyone, and some don’t get it at all. Don’t Overthinking the age gap, what you really need is mental compatibility. If it’s there then you’ll be fine.

Lemmy for me isn’t even close to what reddit was. Careful selection of several dozen subs over past many years meant that I felt at home browsing the feed. On lemmy, I’ve tried to join similar instances as my subscribed subreddits, but so far it’s empty. The situation is improving and I hope to one day see better content here than in reddit

I hope that the download function with IDM remains intact. I will download the videos and then watch them because I refuse to let advertisers dictate my eyeballs

Oh, I have a story that is not much different. I am what you called science-minded person. So, you can imagine what I must be thinking about tarot cards or astrology. But I definitely do get you. Few days back I had a dream. That lead me down the rabbit hole of deciphering its meaning. It wasn’t anything spectacular, just plain old random-ass dream. But dreams are pretty big in my society so there is ample material to decipher them. I picked one up at random and found out that my dream was good. That was it.

I admit that some other dream dictionary might tell me that my dream is an omen of doom, but just like yourself I took that initial meaning and wrapped it around my situation well enough that I could spend next few days in relative calm. Even though I do not believe in them at all.

For me it has always been me talking to myself. Very rarely I would take an approach where I needed to detach from myself in hopes of finding the best option objectively and without my own bias etc.

To start off, try to speak to yourself just as you would with any other person. Obviously, you may think that you know yourself well enough (I’ll explain why this is wrong later, but for the sake of explanation just go with it) so that you can try to speak to yourself like this is your best friend. You know your likes, dislikes, things you like to talk about, things you are afraid of. The best feeling you can seek is to be able to speak with absolute freedom, because it’s you yourself you are talking to. So, you don’t have to fear of coming out as being awkward.

I was all over the place when I started. Sometimes I still am. But it’s quiet unlike speaking to some other person. When you speak to others your mind starts to wonder what if they think you are too weird. You absolutely will be weird in the start, just like you are weird around new people. But as your friendship grows you get more comfortable.

So, the key is to keep writing on the regular. I normally write a couple of pages once a month. Lately I’ve been writing more due to some stress in my life. You can write once a month, or once a week or a day. Or even multiple times a day, but make it a habit to write regularly. You will find that very quickly you will become comfortable with this new friend and your writing style will change. Mine has changed multiple times over the years. It has taken me on a journey of self-discovery. And I promise you, if you can go even 10% as far as I have in journaling, you will recognize that you never really knew yourself before you started journaling.

I myself started writing in a notepad on my laptop. Sometimes when I needed to I would write on my phone even. In those initial days it would often be months before I would write anything. But it helped me still. I hope you can find something that can benefit you

I have always been just a lurker on reddit, here I’m trying to learn as fast as I can and upvoting more than I normally do. I guess I can start also by posting my favorite content from reddit to lemmy in respective communities as a start

Been exploring, setting up my account, learning to use lemmy since 2am, this is the fundamental issue in facing, one that I cannot seem to wrap my head around.

I’m not sure (someone can correct me if I’m wrong) if my account is in certain instance, I can subscribe to communities in that instance, or other external instances. However, subscribing to communities in other instances is pretty tedious. I still don’t know how to reliably do it on PC let alone mobile. It’s a toss up for me if it’ll open in my account or a new page asking me to log in to that instance.

Hopefully in the coming months lemmy can take off and we can have something amazing on our hands
