Yea, “someone told us” seemingly without any further evidence should not be the basis of such an article. Without verifying claims, human rights watches are bound to be abused for propaganda purposes.

One thing I always like to remind people of: The fact that these effects are, if at all existent, so small that they can barely be observed also means that if they do turn out to be harmful, it’s not too bad, as the harm is also small. It’s not like e.g. lead in the water where you can very clearly prove a significant harm.
Only downside is you won’t find stuff from domains without lemmy in them, e.g. feddit.de
Perhaps to expand on that: also have a fire blanket in your kitchen. They are dirt cheap, no maintenance and if something catches on fire during cooking you can throw them over and stop it before a chaotic situation develops.
This is a life-saving YSK.
The crazy thing is that I find myself commenting way more in here. If I was to answer to an askreddit thread, it would just get lost, but since the community here is smaller, it feels like every comment has more relevance
This seems like a potential severe issue though - with just a few accounts, you could, without arousing too much suspicion, just try to get as much communities mirrored to your server as possible. This also means that, with a sufficient amount of users, every (large) fediverse server will have basically a complete copy of all other servers. It seems to me that this will lead to severe scaling issues, as the cost of hosting an instance will just go through the roof once a certain user count is reached.
The sheer amount of pro palestinian / pro hamas content around here…
