They’re ditching the USD’s role as the global reserve currency. Any reduction in reliance on the USD directly impacts the USD’s role as a reserve currency.
You don’t have to go “I’m never touching the USD again” to ditch it in it’s key use case.

All the articles about foreign meddling coming out of the big tech giants are written by “independent think tanks” that are conspicuously made up mostly of ex-US intelligence. That should tell you enough.
lemmy.world is such a cesspool I don’t understand it
They can’t, but it looks good without Britain having to toss more money at the dumpster fire.
Everyone does this with store bought drones (mostly sourced from China, FWIW). It’s so incredibly affordable it’s crazy.
India assassinating a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil is a byproduct of knowing that Canada has burned all of its geopolitical relevance and that the US won’t come to Canada’s aid.
Canada had built up a ton of goodwill in the past, but a good chunk of that was burned up aligning with the US in increasingly inane military operations.
Mexico should know better. This is just how the US treats allies that aren’t geopolitically significant like Canada and Mexico.
Nobody was prepared for this evolution of warfare. You can now build an explosive-carrying device the size and radar profile of a large bird.
But, for what it’s worth, Russian state media is saying that it was saboteurs… which is probably more likely given the distance from the frontline than an Ukrainian-operated drone.
If India was weaker and more compliant with US demands, these stories wouldn’t be getting past the editor. You can look at coverage on China in the 2000-2015 period and compare it to today.
This is the same transition that the West had on China a few years ago. When it becomes clear that you won’t become another puppet of the West and want to carve out your own interests, the West immediately flips on you.
Not clarifying the curbs is the entire point. Biden wants to reduce US investment into China in aggregate and doesn’t care where that happens. The “totally tight and totally limited” curbs are just a cover that Biden is using to justify his policy.
Seymour Hersh is an award-winning journalist who’s well-known for uncovering rampant government corruption. His record includes coverage of the My Lai massacre in Vietnam, Saudi support for al-Qaeda leading up to 9/11, and the so-called “weapons of mass destruction” and “nuclear materials” used to justify the invasion of Iraq.
Hundreds, thousands, millions. It’s all the same because people died and the people that died weren’t white.
This is indeed me
Caps on Russian oil price, restoration of original Ukraine borders, prosecution of Russian “war criminals”
It’s what you’d expect from a country that’s completely winning the war and not stuck in a stalemate while losing support
What if the state itself doesn’t follow those laws?
The laws of Western states that the West only selectively follows? Gee…
I’m happy to move over from programming.dev to lemmy.ml
Sweet of you to think that
Sure, but it ends up being extreme even for Reddit. There’s no discourse, it’s just everyone nodding along and agreeing.
