A handful of Russian officials have suggested without evidence that Ukraine may have been involved in Friday’s attack on the Crocus City complex near Moscow.

Following the announcement that the four men alleged to have carried out the attack were apprehended near Russia’s border with Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Telegram: “Now we know in which country these bloody bastards planned to hide from persecution – Ukraine.”

The head of the Russian State Duma Defense Committee, Andrey Kartapolov, told state news agency RIA Novosti that “Ukraine and its patrons are the main stakeholders in the terrorist attack at Crocus," adding that “if information about the Ukrainian trace in the terrorist attack is confirmed, there must be a clear answer on the battlefield."

Several Ukrainian agencies have categorically denied any connection with the attack.

And this is all the evidence that is needed that Ukraine is not responsible. If this was a Ukrainian attack, they would be trumpeting it from the hillsides as a massive success, stabbing at the heart of Russia.

Sure, but they could be right without evidence- broken clocks and all that. However, we have evidence that they’re wrong.

Oh, no, you’re totally right, and your take on it is much deeper than mine. I just see them more as “boy who cried wolf” than “broken clock”.

Like, if you want people to believe you, maybe tell the truth reliably and give them a reason to believe you.

Potentially. I can’t see state media of Ukraine being excited to brag about shooting up a concert full of civilians. The blowback about brazenly attacking a non-military target such as a concert would be intense. Especially when the Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian infrastructure has seen progress.

Yea, I don’t know what they’re smoking. Ukraine has shown great interest in having the military function like a proper military and not a government “funded” terror organization like the Z’s.

I’m surprised it took them this long to unleash this bullshit. It’ll now be propagandized inside Russia to further justify conscription and austerity.

I’m not sure why they want to make Russian people believe that Putin and his SMO are causing this misery to them but ok

Of course they do. Heaven forbid they had to admit that they f-ed up, and that they suddenly have a second front that they simply cannot serve.
