Rocky? Rocky 2-4? Slap Shot (1977) is fantastic.
For basketball I’d say Hoosiers (1986) is good. For American Football? Jerry Maguire (1996).
What are the best soccer, cricket, or racing movies?
Baseketball, Dodgeball, Happy Gilmore, and The Big Lebowski (I don’t watch sports)
Moneyball
Baseketball.
The only other one about a real sport I’ve watched multiple times and is a sport I actually like would be The Mighty Ducks.
Space Jam.
For Golf, Happy Gilmore! If you haven’t seen it yet, you can do it!
Yes that or Tin Cup (1996). Apparently peak year for golf movies. Legend of Baggar Vance (2000) was a few years later. There was a tiny window for mainstream golf movies.
Dodgeball - a true underdog story
The replacements
Hijacking this thread to ask if there’s any good rugby movies besides Invictus
Miracle - hockey Senna - F1 Faster (series) - MotoGP
Warrior for MMA. It’s a bit of a guilty pleasure because it hits all of my traditional masculine buttons. Redemption, making dad proud, making wife proud, showing your brother you actually love him, fist fights, etc.
“Who own de Chiefs?”
OWNS. OWNS.
The Natural
Happy Gilmore
Dodgeball
Ted Lasso
Play it to the Bone

There is crying in baseball: Field of Dreams
I don’t watch many sports now but watched these movies a ton as a kid:
the rookie - baseball
the air up there - basketball
caddyshack - golf
kingpin - bowling (the big Lebowski is my favorite movie of all time, but I don’t really consider it a “bowling” movie)
the wizard - competitive gaming
cool runnings - bobsledding
the big green - soccer
