    Ah…the fundamental misconception about upvotes. Try to think of it as bringing more attention to the post, not necessarily agreeing with it or (as in this case) liking it. Hope this helps!

      Absolutely. Many downvotes come because people don’t like the reality of a situation rather than disagree with someone’s perspective. Voting with your emotions is silly.
